Himarck came from an urgency to create a group with no stylistic boundaries in which both musical and improvisational freedom could thrive with set rules: written out material as precise as classical music scores combined with the concept of open and intuitive improvisation.
The sound of Himarck is very much dominated by the organic interplay between piano and electric guitar, traditionally a not so often heard combination in jazz. Characteristic for Himarck is the acoustic reverberant quality, comparable to ECM artists, however with a constant search for more raw edge electric jazz fusion-like timbres.
