In 1998, tenor saxophonist BarendMiddelhoff moved from Amsterdam to Paris. There he ran into bassplayer Clovis Nicolas, during concerts and recordings. When Barend moved from Paris to Bologna, Italy, in 2003, Clovis moved to New York. Fifteen years later Barend and Nicolas teamed up again, at Acoustic RTecording in Brooklyn, NY, with guitarist Peter Bernstein (feat. on 5 tracks) and drummer Jason Tiemann. “Only 1st and 2nd takes can be heard on this album”, says Barend, “that is why I called the record Fair Play”.
