Brazilian singer/songwriter João Vedana started playing guitar when he was 9. He was 15 when he discovered 'The Blues'. And that changed his life.
João grew up in Lages, a small town in the deep south of Brazil, where his older brother and cousins got him to listen to The Beatles and B.B. King. João developed a fascination for the electric guitar and at the age At the age of 18 he moved to São Paolo for a 4-year training at the Institute of Guitar and Technology. During that time he also became a session musician. It was also there in São Paolo that he discovered jazz music and released his first album Saudade.
In 2019 João came to the Netherlands and formed a new trio. Despertar is his newest release. João mixes the timbres of his Brazilian roots with R&B, funk and soul and sings in Portuguese. Guests on the record are Hermine Deurloo (harmonica) and Lucas Santana (tenor sax).
