Suzan Veneman Sextet – Migrations of the Mind (LP)
'Migrations of the Mind', Suzan Veneman's debut album, is the story of a musical search for her own identity after a diagnosis of MS in 2019. It was a long-cherished wish to release an album with own pieces. In that sense, the diagnosis has been a catalyst, she admits: “I felt I had something to say now. A story to tell.”
Suzan Veneman (1990) grew up in a musical family and at a young age started to play piano and trumpet. In 2010 she won 2nd prize at the Princess Christina Jazz Competition. After her bachelor's in Jazz Trumpet in the Netherlands, she continued her studies in the US, “the cradle of jazz. I have had lessons from Joe Magnarelli, Kurt Weiss, Alex Sipiagin and Jim Rotondi, among others.”
